The legal advocate, who was portrayed by Julia Roberts in a 2000 movie, is arrested at Las Vegas Boat Harbor at Lake Mead, after she allegedly operates a boat under influence of alcohol.

AceShowbiz - Erin Brockovich, a real-life legal advocate from Julia Roberts' movie "Erin Brockovich", has been arrested for alleged DUI while operating a boat at Las Vegas Boat Harbor in Lake Mead, near Boulder City, Nevada. According to a spokesman for Nevada Department of Wildlife, Edwin Lyngar, she was taken into custody on Friday, June 7 at 10:15 P.M.

The spokesman told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that a game warden saw Brockovich, who changed her name into Brockovich-Ellis following her marriage in 1999, "struggling to dock her boat." The warden noticed that the she had signs of being intoxicated when he approached her to offer some help.

"She was obviously struggling to put the boat in the slip, and if you've had any experience, it's a simple enough operation," the spokesman added. According to New York Daily News, the result of her field sobriety test showed that alcohol in her blood was twice the legal limit of .08. She was booked into Clark County jail and released later on $1,000 bond.

"Too many people think drinking and boating go together. We don't have a problem if people drink. Just have a designated operator," Lyngar told Associated Press. Brockovich reportedly was with a male passenger along the boat ride, but she was alone when she tried to dock her boat.

The legal advocate and activist rose into fame after her struggle against Pacific Gas & Electric Co., in which she sued the company for polluting water supply, was adapted into movie "Erin Brockovich" in 2000. Julia Roberts received Best Actress at Academy Awards for her role in the movie adaptation.
