AceShowbiz - International indie band The Boxer Rebellion was forced to postpone their show at the Avalon in Hollywood, Los Angeles following the shooting incident inside the campus of Santa Monica College, where their gear was locked down inside radio station KCRW's studio. They moved the show, a promotional gig in support of their new album "Promises", from Friday to Sunday.
"Friends in LA. The show at Avalon tonight has been postponed to Sunday 6/9. Tickets still valid, same timings. Gear trapped @kcrw. So sorry," the band tweeted on June 7. Prior to the rescheduled show, the quartet of Nathan Nicholson, Adam Harrison, Piers Hewitt and Todd Howe was set to play Saturday night in San Diego's Belly Up night club.
The band was in KCRW's Santa Monica College studio to perform on the "Morning Becomes Eclectic" show when gunfire broke out on the campus, consequently putting their gear on lock down. The shooting rampage, which took place near the school's library, killed five people including the gunman.
"KCRW remains evacuated after the tragic events that happened today in and around the campus of Santa Monica College. Some of the shots were fired right outside our offices, and we are relieved that our staff escaped harm," KCRW general manager Jennifer Ferro stated. KCRW has resumed its broadcast from NPR West's studios in Culver City.
