Natalie Holt, who is part of a backup orchestra on the show's season finale, eggs Cowell during Adam and Richard Johnson's performance.

AceShowbiz - It was an eventful night on "Britain's Got Talent" season 7 finale on Saturday, June 8. While it was supposed to be a big moment for one of the finalists, the show was almost overshadowed by a bizarre incident onstage.

Brothers Richard and Adam Johnson were singing an operatic version of "The Impossible Dream" when viola player Natalie Holt, who was playing with the backup orchestra, got up from her chair and rushed to the front of the stage with a carton of eggs. She threw at least five eggs at Simon Cowell before security stopped her.

The Johnson brothers, however, sang like a professional and managed to complete their performance. It appeared that at least one of the eggs hit the target since Cowell had to remove his jacket. The host made it clear that the incident was not part of the act.

A representative for "BGT" released a statement afterward, saying, "Natalie Holt (age 30) was part of the backing group for their performance, and as a result of her misguided actions the police were called. However, we have decided to take no further action at this stage."

Holt herself explained the reason of her antic, "I took a stand against people miming on TV and against Simon Cowell and his dreadful influence on the music industry." She also wanted to "apologize to [opera-singing brothers] Richard and Adam for overshadowing their performance. I've never done anything like this before and in hindsight I have realized it was a silly thing to do." She competed on the show with Raven Quartet back in 2012.

The Johnsons commented, "It's disappointing that someone tried to sabotage our performance, but we're proud that we made it to the end of our song. Thanks to everyone for their support. We've had a great time." Meanwhile, Cowell tweeted, "I don't think eggs should be allowed on talent shows. Discuss?"

The egg toss aside, the "BGT" season finale crowned Hungarian shadow theater troupe Attraction as the winner. Comedian Jack Carroll was the runner-up, while the Johnson brothers finished at the third place.
