Christina Ricci Is Accused Murderer Lizzie Borden in Lifetime Movie

The former 'Pan Am' actress will portray the young woman, who was tried for the murders of her father and stepmother in the late 1800s, in the historical pic.

will bring to life Lizzie Borden, a young American woman who was tried but eventually acquitted in the 1892 axe murders of her father and stepmother. The Wednesday Addams in 1991's "The Addams Family" will play the Fall River resident in a Lifetime movie.

The telepic, which will be directed by Nick Gomez and produced by Sony Pictures Television, will center on Liz's trial for the brutal murders of her father, Andrew Jackson Borden, and his second wife, Abby Durfee Gray Borden, at their family home. The trial drew national attention.

Liz, born in 1860, was acquitted in a trial and no one else was charged in the murders, leaving the case unsolved. Though she was found not guilty in trial, Liz faced significant ostracism when she returned to live in Fall River, Massachusetts until her death in 1927.

The Lifetime movie project will reunite Ricci with Sony TV which produced ABC's short-lived period drama "" in which she had a lead role. Judith Verno will executive produce the TV movie, but no writer is announced for the pic as of now.

Another Lizzie Borden project is currently in production on HBO. stars and executive produces the miniseries for the premium cable channel.
