Movie

The Jack Dawson of 'Titanic' will headline the studio's newest project, which is penned by Jason Hall of 'American Sniper'.

AceShowbiz - After suiting up for his depiction of Jay Gatsby in "The Great Gatsby", Leonardo DiCaprio will transform himself into a "mad monk" in his next film. Deadline learns that the 38-year-old star is attached to "Rasputin", Warner Bros. Pictures' latest project, and will dive into a role as the infamous Russian mystic and adviser to the Romanovs in the early 20th century.

The site reports that DiCaprio's intrigued to explore the lesser-discussed aspects of Rasputin's life as offered by scribe Jason Hall, citing "the complicated elements of a child who lost the better part of himself when his brother died and and was capable of kindness but also a ruthlessness" as the part of the script that has sparked the actor's interest.

The biopic will be produced by Kevin McCormick along with Jennifer Davisson Killoran of DiCaprio's Appian Way and Peter Morgan, who serves as a producer for Hall-written "American Sniper", which secures Steven Spielberg as its helmer and Bradley Cooper as its star. As of now, no start date is set yet.

DiCaprio will next be seen as stockbroker Jordan Belfort in "The Wolf of Wall Street", which is directed by his frequent collaborator Martin Scorsese. Featuring Matthew McConaughey and Jonah Hill too, it will be released on November 15 in the U.S.
