Stewart plans a heartfelt goodbye before he takes a long hiatus from the Comedy Central show, but his temporary replacement Oliver cuts it when he shows up to measure the desk.

AceShowbiz - Jon Stewart signs off from "The Daily Show" this summer to film his directorial debut. The political satirist attempted a heartfelt goodbye when hosting his last episode Thursday, June 6, but his temporary replacement John Oliver crashed the moment.

Showing up from under the desk, Oliver was busy measuring the desk and seemingly ordering something pink on the phone. "Oh wow, you're still here. Looks like we have us an awkward situation on our hands," the British comedian quipped.

Stewart wanted to toss his last moment of zen, but the scenes showed Oliver gleefully taking over the seat behind the desk and declaring, "It's my show now. You can't even throw to zen without me butting in," before putting Stewart's pens in his pants. Back to Stewart in the studio, he was stunned with a pen dangling from his mouth. "I thought you'd left. I'm sorry about the pens," Oliver told him.

In another segment, Stewart managed to deliver a proper farewell, thanking his crew and explaining what inspired him to make "Rosewater". He also promised to make sure that Oliver's "feeding the plants and watering the children."

Stewart is taking a 12-week hiatus from "The Daily Show" to direct the movie he wrote based on BBC journalist Maziar Bahari's memoir "Then They Came for Me: A Family's Story of Love, Captivity and Survival". The book chronicles Bahari's 2009 arrest by the Iranian government while covering an election protest as he was accused of being a spy.
