After his former band mates sued him, the rocker files a multi-million dollar countersuit against them Friday.

AceShowbiz - Following the lawsuit filed two weeks ago by rock band Stone Temple Pilots against their terminated vocalist Scott Weiland, the ousted member now files a countersuit against his former band mates. The former Velvet Revolver member is seeking $5 million in compensatory damages and $2 million in statutory damages for each "willful use" of the STP name.
"How do you expel a man from a band that he started, named, sang lead on every song, wrote the lyrics and was the face of for 20 years, and then try to grab the name and goodwill for yourselves?" Weiland's counter lawsuit read. "You don't, but three of the instrumentalists from the band 'Stone Temple Pilots' (the 'Band') tried," the former frontman stated, saying his other band mates, Robert DeLeo, Dean DeLeo and Eric Kretz, conspired against him.
In response to the band's claims that he was misusing the STP name and its songs to advance his solo career, Weiland argues that amongst themselves, they have a standing partnership agreement that allows each band member to perform on his own. Furthermore, his ex-band mates conspired to oust him so they could continue playing as the Stone Temple Pilots since under the said contract, they will be forced to play under a different name should they perform without Weiland.
Prior to this latest countersuit, STP responded to fans' reactions regarding their lawsuit against Weiland, saying, "Our purpose in taking this action is not to hurt Scott. We want to move forward productively, and Scott's choices and actions have prevented us from doing that."
