Tim Samaras, Carl Young and Tim's son Paul become victims of a deadly tornado that lands across El Reno, Oklahoma.

AceShowbiz - Three people from Discovery Channel's show "Storm Chasers" became victims of tornado which struck El Reno, Oklahoma on Friday, May 31. Tim Samaras, Carl Young and Tim's 24-year-old son Paul died when they went out to record the EF-3 tornado. According to officials, there are at least nine people who lost their lives in the Friday storm.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of Tim Samaras, his son Paul and their colleague Carl Young who died Friday, May 31st doing what they love: chasing storms," Discovery Channel said in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to Tim and Carl's friends and families," the statement read further.

Some people who work in the same field as Tim mourned over the great loss. Doug Kiesling, a storm photographer, told CNN, "This has really shaken up everyone in the storm chasing community. We knew this day would happen someday, but nobody would imagine that it would happen to Tim. Tim was one of the safest people to go out there." Terry Garcia, executive VP of the National Geographic Society stated that "Tim's death is a stark reminder of the risks encountered regularly by the men and women" who work in the same area of expertise.

Details on how the three were killed are unclear. However, a fellow storm chaser told ABC that the trio's equipment was missing. "The family and overall scientific community would like it recovered to see what happened and what went wrong," the storm chaser said.

Since 2003, Tim and Carl had been dedicating themselves on researches to understand why tornadoes form, so that they can give warning to people in Tornado Alley. Tim and Carl's work is the subject of "Storm Chasers" series which started airing in 2007 and ran for five seasons. "Mile Wide Tornado: Oklahoma Disaster" which was aired on Sunday, June 2, would be dedicated to their memories.
