The series creator will be back to run the NBC cult comedy with Chris McKenna as his co-showrunner.

AceShowbiz - It's official; Dan Harmon will return to "Community" season 5. After accidentally spilling the beans a week ago, the creator of the NBC series confirmed it by tweeting on early Saturday, June 1, "Yes yes yes! I'm back I'm back I'm back. You can thank @joelmchale."

"Here are my 'deal breakers' coming back to Community: Rhonda Robinson on props. Denise Pizzini on design. Ruthie Aslan in post. Tell Sony," he added in following tweets, "Also I would very much like it if @joelmchale @yvettenbrown @GillianJacobs @alisonbrie @dannypudi and @DonaldGlover were somehow involved."

Later on Saturday night at L.A.'s Silent Movie Theatre, where he was co-hosting an event, Harmon talked about his "Community" return. He revealed that he was "going back to run 'Community' along with, as my co-showrunner, the hands-down best writer of all the seasons, Chris McKenna."

He's still looking for additional staffing as annoucing, "If any of you are a midlevel writer that doesn't work for 'Parks and Rec', let me know that you exist and I would love to hire you. Because this city has been picked clean by every show already, and right now we have to put a staff together. So see me after the show. And it pays - I don't know - 25 grand a week or something like that."

While he's now excited to return, Harmon said he didn't keep up with the show following his departure. "I have not seen the fourth season yet. I swear to God," he stated, adding that "Sony said they're very interested in recording me watching it as a commentary track" for the Season 4 DVD set.

Harmon left "Community" in May 2012 following a spat with star Chevy Chase. The actor himself, who played Pierce Hawthorne, later quit the series in the middle of season 4 production.

NBC has renewed the sitcom for a 13-episode fifth season.
