The band quietly recorded their ninth studio album while frontman Trent Reznor worked on other projects.

AceShowbiz - Industrial rock project Nine Inch Nails is set to release a new album later this year, their ninth full-length album in the 25 years history of the band. The new studio album, secretly recorded with British record producers Alan Moulder and Atticus Ross, will be supported with a tour which the group intends to embark on about the same time as the album's release date.

"For the last year I've been secretly working non-stop with Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder on a new, full-length Nine Inch Nails record, which I am happy to say is finished and frankly f***ing great," frontman Trent Reznor revealed. Ross worked with Reznor on the scoring for the 2010 film "The Social Network" while Moulder co-produced and mixed the debut EP "How to Destroy Angels", Reznor's musical group with Ross, Reznor's wife Mariqueen Maandig, and Rob Sheridan.

He said his other projects outside music like scoring "The Social Network" and the 2011 mystery thriller "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011)", along with his HTDA band, all directly inspired him to come up with NIN's new album, serving as the motivation to reconstruct the group and the creative stimulation for the band's new music.

The Nine Inch Nails is set to perform in their first live show since 2009 when they appear at the Fuji Rock Festival in Naeba, Japan on July 26. They will likewise play various other music festivals as Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, Leeds, Reading, Made In America and the Voodoo Festival.
