Mariska Hargitay Signs New Deal to Return to 'Law and Order: SVU'

The detective Olivia Benson depicter wishes a 'happy weekend' to her Twitter followers while announcing her return to the procedural series.

AceShowbiz - It's official, detective Olivia Benson will be back on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" when the long-running procedural series show returns for the 15th season later. Mariska Hargitay broke the news to her Twitter followers, "Happy weekend. It's official. Season 15--I'LL BE BACK! xx m."

In the finale of the previous season titled "Her Negotiation", Benson was held at gunpoint by serial rapist the "Special Victims Unit" had been attempting to take down. After confirmation that she will be back, fans are now looking forward to see how the heroine survives the ordeal.

"SVU" will be back on the Wednesday slot at 9 P.M. later this fall. The show averages a 2.1 rating with adults 18-49. Although the show is not the juggernaut it once was, it remains one of the consistent performers for NBC which announced its renewal last April.
