The Baillie Walsh-directed film depicts the strong bond between the 'Dancing in the Dark' hitmaker and his fans throughout the world.

AceShowbiz - How much such legendary musician as Bruce Springsteen means to his fans is teased in a first trailer for the rockstar's upcoming documentary "Springsteen and I". Young and old fans from different countries can be seen participating in the video, each talking about how the "Tunnel of Love" singer's music has given meanings to their lives.

The film is produced by Ridley Scott Associates, Black Dog Films and Scott Free London. Fans around the world participated in the "collective filmmaking enterprise" from director Baillie Walsh by sending their own footage during the November 15-29 period last year.

"We are searching for a wide variety of creative interpretations, captured in the most visually exciting way you can think of," so producer Svana Gisla wrote in the announcement, asking for fans' contribution. "If you have a parent, a sibling, a neighbor, or a colleague who has an interesting tale, we want to know about them."

The much-anticipated documentary was inspired by "Life in a Day", a crowdsourced drama/documentary film in 2011 from 80,000 submissions. Debuted at the Sundance Film Festival, the film from director Kevin McDonald earned positive reviews from critics. Liza Marshall and Ridley Scott served as the producers for the film.

"Springsteen and I" is set to hit theaters nationwide on July 22.
