The police say that Canseco is a suspect in a sexual assault case and is under investigation, but no charges have been filed.

AceShowbiz - Las Vegas police are investigating former major league baseball outfilder Jose Canseco for a sexual assault case. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department stated on Wednesday, May 22, that "Jose Conseco has been named as the suspect in this investigation. At this time no charges have been filed and our investigation remains ongoing."

"Per department policy neither victim information or investigation details are available for release," the police said. The authorities added that Canseco agreed to assist them in the investigation.

While the police refused to reveal the details of the case being investigated, including the place of the alleged assault, Canseco took to Twitter to tell his followers about the case he was facing. In a series of tweets, some of which he deleted later, Canseco reportedly named a woman and her workplace.

Los Angeles TV station KTLA obtained the Twitter posts before they were removed. The posts read, "Breaking news this is a first folks las vegas police was (sic) just at my house i have been charged with rape. All media welcome to this drama filled event. Did i rape (my accuser) or is she lieing (sic). Stay tuned to another day in the life of jose canseco."

"(My accuser) told the police that i druged (sic) her and then raped her. hmmmmmm. lets (sic) find out what really happened," Canseco reportedly wrote. He also wrote, "Lets play truth or dare. I dare (my accuser) to tell the truth. I have nothing to hide. The truth always comes out."

Canseco was one of the baseball stars in 1980s. In 2005, he caused a stir after writing New York Times' book "Juiced", which talked about baseball players and their use of steroids. He also wrote another book entitled "Vindicated".
