Jacqueline Danforth has been released from custody on $1,000 bond after she got arrested for suspected DUI.

AceShowbiz - Barbara Walters' adopted daughter Jacqueline Danforth has been arrested for alleged DUI. TMZ reported that Danforth was pulled over in Naples, Florida, on Sunday, May 19. Details of the arrest are not available. Danforth, however, has been released from custody on $1,000 bond.

Walters and her then-husband Lee Guber adopted Danforth as an infant in 1968. The girl later spent her teenage years as a troubled kid. According to Daily Mail, she often sneaked out of the house in mini skirt to party in notorious nightclub Studio 54. She abused marijuana and methamphetamines, and even ran away from home.

In an interview with NBC News in 2003, Danforth opened up about her drug abuse back then. "I did marijuana," she said. "It was called crank then, but it's now methamphetamines," Danforth added.

"Quaaludes were all over the place. Valium. And the drugs numbed all the other feelings. But it didn't take away the issues that I had. They got bigger and bigger. I was more and more isolated from my mom's world. And I thought running [away from home] would solve all my problems," she confessed.

Her mother did not hear from her for a month when she ran away. Walters found her after a man who gave Danforth a ride gave her a call. The mother, who confessed that "I'm lucky I didn't die" during the troubled moments, sent her daughter in to intervention program in Idaho.

After joining the program for three years, Danforth was back on the right track. She finished high school and wanted to help troubled teenagers by founding an alternative school called New Horizons for Young Women. Activities in the institution included outdoor experiences and clinical therapies. The school reportedly was closed in 2008.
