Angelina Jolie to Marry Brad Pitt 'Sooner Rather Than Later' After Double Mastectomy
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt may be preparing for their wedding if Daily Mail could be trusted. Following her revelation about the breast removal surgery she had to prevent cancer, the "Salt" actress is rumored to tie the knot with her fiance "sooner rather than later."
"Brad has been caught up in production turmoil with his new film 'World War Z', so there's been no wedding planning as a result," a source claims to the online publication, "but Angie has said it will happen sooner rather than later."
Despite rumors suggesting they will hold nuptials at their Chateau Miraval when the day finally comes, the source insists the couple who got engaged last year will want a fresh location that "addresses their security concerns and desire to keep it private."
Jolie may want to get married in one of the countries that close to her charity work, the source says. "Getting married in Bosnia, Haiti or Cambodia would give something back to the global community. That may sound pretentious to many but Angelina sincerely believes in the need to pursue that aim. It drives her charity work and she'd like to incorporate this sentiment into her personal life," the insider claims.
Jolie revealed in a moving article titled "My medical Choice" on New York Times about her double mastectomy. She decided to go under the knife after finding out that she carried a "faulty" gene that sharply increased her risk of breast cancer up to 87% and ovarian cancer up to 50%.
"The decision to have a mastectomy was not easy. But it is one I am very happy that I made. ... I can tell my children that they don't need to fear they will lose me to breast cancer," she said. "And they know that I love them and will do anything to be with them as long as I can."
"On a personal note, I do not feel any less of a woman. I feel empowered that I made a strong choice that in no way diminishes my femininity," she added.
She decided to go public with her story "because there are many women who do not know that they might be living under the shadow of cancer." She explained, "It is my hope that they, too, will be able to get gene tested, and that if they have a high risk they, too, will know that they have strong options."
Outpouring supports come from fellow celebrities like Barbara Walters, Giuliana Rancic, Jamie Lee Curtis, Sheryl Crow and many more. She also inspired CNN anchor Zoraida Sambolin to share the story of her struggle with cancer.
Walters said she could relate to Jolie because she herself had her ovaries removed. "My sister passed away from ovarian cancer and I had my ovaries removed. It's not like having the breasts because people don't see it. But it's a decision you have to make - it's preventative," the TV presenter said.
During an episode on "The View", Walters added, "What I think with Angelina... she's such a sex symbol and we associate sex with breasts so often. And the fact that she did this and has retained her beauty and her sexuality. I think it was brave of her, she did it for her own health, but it was so brave to write about it. A women's sexuality is not tied up with her breasts."
Breast cancer survivor Rancic applauded Jolie on Twitter, "Proud of her for using her incredible platform to educate women." Another cancer survivor Crow did the same as writing on her own page, "I commend Angelina Jolie for her courage and thoughtfulness in sharing her story today regarding her mastectomy. So brave!"
Curtis called Jolie "a heroine," explaining, "She is brave and bold and challenging. She challenges the world with her thoughts and actions and deeds. She tells stories that have meaning. She walks the walk, talks the talk and does so with jaw dropping beauty and admirable and seemingly effortless style."
Not only she is admired by other women but she also inspires men. Tom Arnold tweeted, "Angelina Jolie is heroic today because she forced us men to think about and even talk about something very uncomfortable. Our wives health." David Krumholtz gushed, "Now, Angelina Jolie truly is the most beautiful woman in the world."
