Chloe Moretz Takes Racy Role in Denzel Washington's 'The Equalizer'

The 'Kick-Ass' actress has agreed to star as a young prostitute in Sony Pictures' upcoming flick directed by Antoine Fuqua of 'Olympus Has Fallen'.

AceShowbiz - From a Hit-Girl to a telekinetic power-possessed Carrie, 16-year-old Chloe Moretz seems eager to take up a diverse range of roles. The Isabelle depicter in 2011's "Hugo" now nabs a daring role as a teen prostitute named Teri in "The Equalizer", starring opposite Golden Globe Award-winning Denzel Washington.

As reported by Deadline, the racy role was initially envisioned for an actress in her 20s. However, the "500 Days of Summer" actress impressed Washington as well as director Antoine Fuqua during a chemistry reading. Hence, the character, a "reminiscent of Jodie Foster in 'Taxi Driver' [Martin Scorsese's 1976 drama]," was then rewritten to fit her.

A remake of the 1980s CBS drama of the same name, the upcoming film from Sony Pictures will center on Washington's Robert McCall, the mysterious retired intelligence officer with a hidden past who generally helps out people in need, but on a large scale. Richard Wenk is on board the project to pen the script.

Previously starring opposite Halle Berry, Hugh Jackman and Gerard Butler in "Movie 43", Moretz will next be seen jumping into heroic action in "Kick-Ass 2", which is slated to arrive in theaters across the United States on August 16.
