Severe depression and gloom of the Bundrens are highlighted in the first trailer for Franco's adaptation of William Faulkner's prize-winning book.

AceShowbiz - A much-anticipated film from actor and director James Franco has finally debuted its trailer via Yahoo! Movies. Staying true to the grim tone William Faulkner set in his 1930 novel, "As I Lay Dying" is all about sorrow and afflictions that the Bundrens have to cope with as previewed in the newly-released video.

Scheduled to debut in Un Certain Regard at Cannes in May this year, the film tells the story of the death of Addie Bundren and her family's quest to honor her wish to be buried in the nearby town of Jefferson. Fans are looking forward to how Franco tackles Faulkner's seventh novel, incorporating 59 chapters narrated by 15 characters into an easily-digested pic.

Serving as director, leading man and co-writer, Franco is joined by his ex-girlfriend Ahna O'Reilly as Dewey Dell Bundren, Logan Marshall-Green as Jewel Bundren, Danny McBride as Vernon Tull and Tim Blake Nelson as Anse Bundren. The adaptation also includes Beth Grant, Jim Parrack, Jesse Heiman and Scott Haze in the cast ensemble.

Franco has recently starred in Sam Raimi's blockbuster hit "Oz: The Great and Powerful" and Harmony Korine's sensational indie "Spring Breakers". Aside from "As I Lay Dying", the Aron Ralston of "127 Hours" will next be seen in star-studded comedy "This Is the End".
