'The Toxic Avenger' Remake May Feature Arnold Schwarzenegger
Movie

The former Governator is in talks to take a leading role in the re-imagining of the Troma cult classic directed by Steve Pink of 'Hot Tub Time Machine'.

AceShowbiz - Arnold Schwarzenegger keeps himself busy post-governatorship. After starring in Kim Ji-woon's "The Last Stand" as the leading man, The Terminator is now in talks to nab another leading role in "The Toxic Avenger", a remake of the 1984 cult classic. However, Variety learns that the former bodybuilder is not offered the title role.

If all deals are eventually sealed, Schwarzenegger will be directed by "Hot Tub Time Machine" helmer Steve Pink. Besides serving behind the lens, Pink helps write the script of the reboot alongside Daniel C. Mitchell. Richard Saperstein, Charlie Corwin and Akiva Goldsman are among the producers.

Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz directed Troma Entertainment's original film, which told the tale of a tormented boy who's transformed into a hideously deformed creature of superhuman size and strength after falling into a drum of toxic waste.

The remake reportedly has a slightly different version of the plot. The new version is said to follow an average teen who joins an environmental club only to impress his crush. While investigating a waste plant, he is accidentally thrown into a tub of waste and changes into a radioactive hero.

Already attached to join David Ayer's "Ten", Schwarzenegger will next be seen acting opposite Sylvester Stallone in "Escape Plan", which is set to arrive in U.S. theaters on September 13.
