'American Idol' Top 3 Performances: Candice Glover May Have Sealed Her Place in Top 2
TV

Candice, Angie Miller and Kree Harrison win a round each according to Jimmy Iovine, but Candice's emotional rendition of 'Somewhere' is a standout of the night.

AceShowbiz - It was a close race on "American Idol" May 8 performances show with Candice Glover, Angie Miller and Kree Harrison in the Top 3. Each of them had to sing three songs, one was picked by record executive Jimmy Iovine, one was the judges' pick and the other was picked by the show's producers.

Kree started the first round, singing Pink's "Perfect" chosen by Jimmy. Randy Jackson was not into it, but added that she could sing anything at any time. Mariah Carey said the song choice was "interesting," but expected Kree to have done more with it.

Her second song was "Here Comes Goodbye" by Rascal Flatts. Though she was off-key during the higher notes of the first chorus, her emotional performance redeemed it as Randy said, "That was unbelievably beautiful." Mariah "absolutely agree that that was brilliant."

Kree then sang the producers' pick, The Band Perry's "Better Dig Two", but Keith Urban and Nicki Minaj thought the song was not suitable for her. "That's not your comfort zone. Whoever picked that for you should be stoned," the Harajuku Barbie said, but added that she's still going to buy Kree's album.

Candice got "One" by U2 feat. Mary J. Blige for her first song of the night. Nicki admitted that she initially thought the song wouldn't fit Candice, but "that felt like I was at your show, workin'."

Candice also nailed a cover of Emeli Sande's "Next to Me", which Mariah called "A+mazing," but it was her third performance which would likely send her to the Top 2. Singing "Somewhere", she made Mariah cry "yet again," as the R&B diva admitted. Keith told viewers, "If you want to vote for Candice, dial the number on your screen. If you don't, call your doctor."

The other finalist, Angie, sang Elton John's "Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word". Randy thought it would've been better if she played a piano, while Nicki said, "This was a stellar vocal ... but it didn't hit me emotionally like I would have wanted it to."

Angie did better in her second performance when singing Pink's "Try". "That song fit you like a glove," Randy said this time. Nicki, meanwhile, noticed that Angie looked like Miley Cyrus' sister.

Angie eventually sat behind a piano for her performance of "Maybe" by Emeli Sande. Mariah couldn't find anything "negative to say at all about that performance," as Keith enthused, "You're finding your groove, Angie, you really are."

Jimmy said Angie won the first round, gave the second round to Kree and declared Candice as the winner of the third round, but who will compete in the final showdown will eventually depend on viewers' votes.
