Shakira makes a difficult decision to send home Karina Iglesias, while Adam Levine is left until the final minute to reveal whom he saves on the first live results show of season 4.

AceShowbiz - The first results show of "The Voice" season 4 was marred by voting inconsistencies. The issue was addressed on Wednesday, May 8 with host Carson Daly admitting, "We noticed some inconsistencies with this week's texting and online voting."

Jason George, CEO of Telescope which manages the voting for "The Voice", also said in a statement, "Our system caught an inconsistency in a portion of this week's voting data." He added, "For fairness, those votes have been removed from Monday and Tuesday's results, but we want to assure fans and artists alike that this in no way affected the outcome for any team."

The voting snafu aside, the NBC singing competition narrowed down its number of contestants to 12 after the Monday and Tuesday live performance shows. The two top vote-getters from each team automatically moved on to the next round, while the coaches had to decide a third singer who would advance.

On Team Blake Shelton, Holly Tucker and Danielle Bradbery were saved by America's votes. "For the sake of keeping things as different, as diverse in the competition" for his team, Blake then decided to keep Swon Brothers instead of Justin Rivers.

Sasha Allen and Kris Thomas were the top two vote-getters on Team Shakira, so the Colombian singer had to choose between Garrett Gardner or Karina Iglesias. Shakira admitted she lost sleep knowing the elimination was coming, but eventually decided to send Garrett through "based on what I can contribute to this person."

Karina, whom Shakira stole from Adam Levine in the Battle Round, told her adoptive coach, "I just wanna thank you for giving me the opportunity to get this far and to be able to work with you. You've inspired me and this isn't the end and I love you very much."

Michelle Chamuel and Vedo of Team Usher went on the next round based on viewers' vote, leaving Cathia and Josiah Hawley awaiting the verdict on their fate. "I honestly did not see that one coming," Usher said after learning the singers he had to choose, before saving Josiah and sending home Cathia whom he stole from Shakira.

Adam also had a tough time picking between Simmons and Caroline Glaser after Judith Hill and Amber Carrington were voted through. "As much as we like to make music a game, this is more important than a game," he said, mulling over whom he should save. It was not until the credits began to roll that the Maroon 5 frontman revealed, "I have to save Sarah," as the time was running out.
