Chris Kelly Dead From Possible Heroin and Cocaine Overdose

The mother of the member of rap duo Kris Kross says that her son took hard drugs the night before he died last Wednesday.

AceShowbiz - An autopsy on Chris Kelly, who died last Wednesday, was completed on Thursday morning, May 2, and there were no signs of foul play or trauma. Cpl. Kay Lester, a spokeswoman for the Fulton County Police said that Kris Kross rapper's death was being investigated as a possible drug overdose.

"It appears it may have been a possible drug overdose," she said, but the cause of death will be determined when his toxicology reports come in the next 3 or 4 weeks. Donna Kelly Pratte, who said she was Kelly's "close friend" before police identified her as the rapper's mother, told the investigators that her son took a mixture of heroin and cocaine the night before his death.

Saying that her son was home to "recover from his drug use," Pratte explained she called 911 after Kelly felt nauseous all morning and passed out in the afternoon. Lamar Williams, Kelly's uncle, also told investigators that the rapper who died at the age of 34 "had an extensive history of drug abuse."

On Wednesday, May 1, Kelly was found unresponsive at his house before he was pronounced dead at an Atlanta hospital around 5 P.M. Reacting to Kelly's death, some musicians posted their condolences on Twitter. "R.I.P Chris Kelly... May GOD embrace your soul & lift up your family," wrote LL Cool J who was followed by Ludacris who said, "One of my motivations as a kid to even get into the rap game. You will be missed. R.I.P. Chris Kelly."

Kelly's partner on Kris Kross, Chris Smith, also responded to his friend's death. He released a statement, saying, "Chris Kelly was my Best Friend. He was like a brother. I love him and will miss him dearly." Smith, who had been friend with Kelly since the first grade, added, "It was a blessing to achieve the success, travel the world and entertain Kris Kross fans all around the world with my best friend."

Jermaine Dupri, the producer who discovered Kelly and Smith, also took to social networking site to mourn Kelly. He posted a letter to the fans via Global 14 which read, "God has blessed me to be in the presence of so many naturally talented people, and Chris [Kelly] was one. His understanding of what we set out to do, from day one was always on point."
