Natalie Portman Is Michael Fassbender's Wife in 'Macbeth'
Movie

The 'No Strings Attached' star has reportedly landed a role of Lady Macbeth in Justin Kurzel's new adaptation of the Shakespeare classic.

AceShowbiz - Director Justin Kurzel has apparently found the best actress to be Michael Fassbender's on-screen wife in his upcoming film. According to Screen Daily, "Black Swan" actress Natalie Portman has agreed to take the female lead role in "Macbeth".

Should the report be true, the project will mark the second time Portman and Fassbender team up for a movie. The two have co-starred in Terrence Mallick's upcoming movie "Lawless". They were almost paired up in Portman-produced film "Jane Got a Gun", but Fassbender later exited the project due to scheduling conflicts.

Set in the 11th century, the new adaptation of Shakespeare's classic follows a ruthlessly ambitious Scottish lord named Macbeth. He seizes the throne with the help of his scheming wife and three witches. The film will retain the original setting and dialogue, taking a "visceral approach to the story including significant battle scenes."

Todd Louiso and Jacob Koskoff serve as the scribes for the film. See-Saw Films, meanwhile, will produce the project, which does not have the start date yet.

Portman will reprise her role as Jane Foster in Marvel's "Thor: The Dark World", which also stars Chris Hemsworth as the Nordic demi-god and Tom Hiddleston as Loki. Fassbender, meanwhile, is currently shooting Marvel's "X-Men: Days of Future Past" and will next be seen in Lenny Abrahamson's "Frank".
