Richard Senneff became the first witness to take the stand in Katherine Jackson's civil wrongful death trial against the bosses of AEG Live on Tuesday, April 30. Richard, the paramedic who tried to save Michael Jackson's life four years ago, described how Michael looked like before the King of Pop was pronounced dead.
Richard told the jury that he initially mistook him for a hospice patient. "The patient appeared to be chronically ill to me," he said. Saying that he could see his ribs, he continued, "He was very pale and underweight. I thought perhaps this was a hospice patient," he said. "To me he looked like someone who was at the end-stage of a long disease process."
The paramedic insisted that Michael had stopped breathing long before he arrived to the house. "His pupils were fully dilated, fixed and dilated. His eyes themselves were quite dry. It was a sign some time had passed since Jackson died." He added, "His skin was very cool to the touch. What that meant to me again was that time had elapsed."
Katherine filed the wrongful death suit against AEG Live. She accused the promoters behind the singer's "This Is It" gigs of ignoring Michael's life-threatening health concerns and for not properly investigating Conrad, who was convicted of involuntary manslaughter for administering the dose of anaesthetic propofol which killed the "Thriller" singer.
AEG executives denied they did anything wrong. They said that Michael personally hired Conrad and they had no idea that the doctor administered propofol to Michael.
