MTV Orders 'Scream'-Based Pilot, Renews 'Snooki and JWoww' for Season 3

In addition to greenlighting a pilot for TV adaptation of the thriller film series, the network announces three new series.

AceShowbiz - MTV has given a go to a "Scream" pilot based on the thriller film franchise of the same title. The network made the announcement at its annual upfront presentation in New York on Thursday, April 25.

The project has been in development for a year, with former MTV executives Tony DiSanto and Liz Gateley shepherding it. They are still in search for a writer to pen the pilot, while the films' director Wes Craven is in talks to helm the pilot.

The network also orders a third season of "Snooki & JWoww". The new season will still follow Snooki as she continues motherhood and JWoww enjoys her engagement bliss and may be heading to the altar. The renewal comes after the second season performed well in term of ratings.

Also at the upfront presentation, MTV announces 15 other shows will return for new season and greenlights three new series. They are docu-drama "Generation Cryo" about kids coming of age who were conceived via anonymous sperm donors, docu-series "Nurse Nation" that follows nine travel nurses assigned to work at a new hospital in a brand new city for 13 weeks, and dating show "The Hook Up" which shows individuals looking for a match based on the suitors' social media history.

Meanwhile, MTV2 has set a premiere date for "Nick Cannon Presents Wild N Out". To be hosted by Nick Cannon, the re-imagined improv comedy show will debut on Tuesday, July 9 at 11:00 P.M. ET/PT with celebrities like comedian Kevin Hart, basketball player Amar'e Stoudemire, and rappers Mac Miller, 2 Chainz, Machine Gun Kelly, A$AP Rocky andJoe Budden slated to appear.
