Dave Grohl gushed over Rush while Chuck D had to cut Flavor Flav's long acceptance speech during the ceremony.

AceShowbiz - As expected, this year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees became emotional as they were entered into the prestigious list as the latest additions to the elite cast of artists. "When we first found out, I don't think it really dawned on me what it meant," Canadian prog-rock outfit Rush frontman Geddy Lee revealed about how his band assessed their latest achievement, realizing much later that "in the days building up to this tonight, I've started reflecting on our lives and what this actually does mean in the context of music, popular music."
Lee would surely be touched to know that Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters had nothing but pure admiration for him, telling folks backstage how terrified he was to play in front of his favorite band their song "Overture". The "Sound City" filmmaker proclaimed, "Tonight was one of the most special nights of my life."
Another emotional honoree was hip-hop act Public Enemy, whose member Flavor Flav delivered a heartfelt acceptance speech Chuck D had to help cut short as he noticed that the audience grew weary from the rather long spiel. Although Chuck D had to taper down Flavor Flav moment onstage, he also did recognize that it was indeed "the biggest day of his rock & roll life" for the rapper.
Also a poignant moment was when Heart guitarist Roger Fisher reunited with his band that night since breaking away in 1980. "It's magical," Fisher tearfully said, "It was a very healing moment, and just created closure for all the pain and negativity in the past."
