The indie rockers drop their haunting contribution to the soundtrack project executive produced by Jay-Z.

AceShowbiz - Florence and the Machine may be bundled up together with superstars Beyonce Knowles as well as will.i.am and Stacy Ferguson of the Black Eyed Peas in Jay-Z's "The Great Gatsby" soundtrack album but the indie rock band's single "Over the Love" gets to be released ahead of the pack. The haunting new track was made available for streaming following the release of the album sampler the day before.

The song was written from the perspective of Gatsby's lifelong crush, Daisy Buchanan, played in the film by actress Carey Mulligan. It features references to F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel, most notable line of which is " 'cause you're a hard soul to save with an ocean in the way, but I'll get around it," a stirring description on the relationship between the two protagonists.

The four-minute-twenty-second track was impeccably delivered by lead singer Florence Welch, whose unique sound adds to the song's character and depth. She effortlessly shifts from soft, breathy vocals in the verses to powerful high notes in the hook.

"Over the Love", along with the rest of the 12 tracks in the album's standard edition and 14 tracks in its deluxe edition, will be available in stores on May 7, just a few days before the actual movie hits theaters on May 10. For such another grand production from critically-acclaimed filmmaker Baz Luhrmann, it will no less make its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival's opening night on May 15.
