MTV Movie Awards 2013: Bradley Cooper Is Best Male Performer

'The Avengers' cast and 'Django Unchained' stars are among other early winners, with the former taking Golden Popcorn for Best Fight gong and the latter nabbing Best WTF Moment trophy.

AceShowbiz - Bradley Cooper took the first award at the 2013 MTV Movie Awards which kicked off on Sunday night, April 14 at 9 P.M. ET. Presenter Melissa McCarthy was on hand to announce the winner of Best Male Performance, which went to the Oscar-nominated actor for his performance in "Silver Linings Playbook".

Taking the stage to accept the Golden Popcorn, Cooper kept his speech short and to the point. He thanked co-star Jennifer Lawrence, who is eying Best Female Performance award at the show, and other cast members of the David O. Russell-directed film.

Adam Sandler and Chris Rock were later out to present Best WTF Moment, which went to Jamie Foxx and Samuel L. Jackson for their scene "Candieland Gets Smoked" in "Django Unchained". Jackson thanked the audience and unleashed an expletive word on stage.

Next, "Star Trek Into Darkness" stars Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana and Zachary Quinto announced "The Avengers" as the winner of Best Fight. Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Hiddleston and director Joss Whedon accepted the award.

The MTV Movie Awards is airing live on MTV from the Sony Pictures Studio Lot in Culver City, California. Rebel Wilson serves as the host, showing up in her "Iron Mangina" suit of armor when opening the show.
