Jay-Z is said to spend $3 million to buy an island in Bahamas for relaxing purpose.

AceShowbiz - Jay-Z reportedly will buy a private island in North Abaco region of the Bahamas for his wife Beyonce Knowles and daughter Blue Ivy, so that they could enjoy some quality time together. According to a source, the 31-year-old rapper will have to pay 2 million pound sterling, or around $3 million for the island.

"Jay's been looking for a private island for the family. He's getting it partly to mark their fifth wedding anniversary but also, with Bey back in the spotlight, it's getting impossible for them to do normal things such as go to the beach with Blue. A private island means they'll be able to have quality time with minimum staff and security," the source said.

The source also revealed that Virgin group boss Sir Richard Branson was the rapper's inspiration. "He wants to turn it into his own Necker Island like Richard Branson," said the source. Branson has spent $10 million to make his 74-acre island become his hideout. Jay-Z's island, however, is said to have no satellite TV and bad phone reception.

Earlier this month, Jay-Z and Beyonce spent their fifth wedding anniversary in Cuba. The couple dined in an exclusive restaurant and strolled around Old Havana despite U.S.' embargo to the country. Two members of Congress reportedly sent a letter to the authorities to seek information whether the couple obtained permission to go to Cuba. On Tuesday, April 9, U.S. Treasury officials replied the lawmakers' letter that the couple's Cuban trip was listed as educational exchange.

Jay-Z addressed the Congress members' investigation in his new song, "Open Letter". A part of the lyrics reads, "Politicians never did (expletive) for me / except lie to me, distort history. want to give me jail time and a fine? Fine, let me commit a real crime." Another part of the lyrics brings President Obama's name which may lead to people's assumption that the celebrity couple obtained special permission from the president. White House's press secretary Jay Carney, however, denied the White House's involvement in this case, saying that "the president did not communicate with Jay-Z over this trip."
