'American Idol' Top 6 Performances: Lazaro Arbos' 'Close to You' Is 'Horrible'
TV

While Lazaro is criticized for his 'horrible' version of 'Close to You', Candice Glover sets 'the bar really high' as she stuns the four judges on the night when all contestants sing twice.

AceShowbiz - "American Idol" got even more challenging as the remaining six contestants had to deliver double performances on Wednesday, April 10. Singing a song of Burt Bacharach and Hal David first and then another song they wished they had written, some contestants nailed them, while some others unfortunately failed.

Angie Miller took the stage first with "Anyone Who Had a Heart". Her first-round performance was apparently passionless and, as Nicki Minaj said, "old-fashioned." However, Angie brought a strong performance in the second round with Kari Jobe's "Love Came Down", sitting behind a piano. All judges sang praises for her. "You tapped into the emotion. Just remember that every time," Randy Jackson said.

Coming up next was Amber Holcomb. Singing "I Say a Little Prayer for You" in the first round, Amber impressed the judges with her "unbeliveable" and "A+" performance and made Randy say, "The competition just started tonight!" Amber later nailed her version of Beyonce Knowles' "Love on Top" in the next round. Even so, Mariah Carey thought it was still not her best vocal yet.

The only male contestant Lazaro Arbos then came on stage and sang "Close to You". Sadly, he delivered a poor performance that drove Randy crazy. "All I can say is no, no, no, no. Dude, that was horrible," he said. He later tried to make it up with his second performance. Bringing his version of Robbie Williams' "Angels", he got rather positive comments. "This was a better range for you," Mariah said.

Kree Harrison then sang "What the World Needs Now" in her first performance. The judges complimented her on her "genuine compassion" that radiated when she sang it. Kree later brought out her best in her version of Kris Kristofferson's "Help Me Make It Through the Night". All judges were impressed by her singing, and Keith Urban even predicted a Grand Ole Opry future for her.

Janelle Arthur came as the fifth contestant. Her version of "I'll Never Fall in Love" was apparently "boring" for the judges. Mariah encouraged her to show more "effervescence" in her second performance. Janelle then tried to fix it when singing Garth Brooks' "The Dance". Even though her singing captured Mariah's heart, Randy still thought it was not her best performance and Nicki added that she could hardly defeat other female contestants.

The two rounds were all wrapped up by Candice Glover. Performing last was not a big burden for Candice as she nailed both performances. Firstly singing "Don't Make Me Over", she stunned all judges with what Randy said "the best vocal of the night." Keith even named her his Top Three. She concluded the night with an amazing version of The Cure's "Love Song". All judges and audience were together giving a long applause to her, who looked overwhelmed by it.

Veteran actor Sir Anthony Hopkins was seen among the crowd watching the Top 6 performances.
