Following Justin Lin's exit from the 'Fast and Furious' franchise, Universal has reportedly written down three potential names on the list, which sees Jeff Wadlow at the top of it.

AceShowbiz - Three strong contenders for the helmer of "Fast and Furious 7" are revealed. Following Justin Lin's confirmation that he wouldn't return for the seventh installment, Latino Review reports that Universal has found three best candidates, including Jeff Wadlow, Brad Furman, and Harald Zwart.
Having served behind the lens for Universal's upcoming film "Kick Ass 2", Wadlow is reportedly the frontrunner for the job. The 39-year-old director, who previously directed 2008's "Never Back Down", is said to be the top candidate as the studio seems to be satisfied with his directing style as seen in the Chloe Moretz-starring action comedy.
Furman, meanwhile, has never had a history with the studio before. His works all revolve around crime-themed plots, such as John Leguizamo's "The Take", Matthew McConaughey's "The Lincoln Lawyer" and Ben Affleck's "Runner Runner", which is set to be released on September 27 in the United States.
Unlike Furman, Zwart slightly has connection with the studio. Previously serving as the helmer for "The Karate Kid", he once teamed up with Focus Features, the subsidiary of Universal, in 2001's "One Night at McCool's", which stars Liv Tyler and Matt Dillon.
Lin passed on the next film in the franchise due to the film's compressed production schedule which demands him to get the seventh installment ready for a 2014 release. He has directed four installments, including the upcoming "Fast and Furious 6" which will be released across the nation on May 24.
Universal's announcement about the chosen director is expected to be made early next week.
