Shia LaBeouf Addresses His Foot Injury and Alec Baldwin Feud
Shia LaBeouf had some eventful days lately from clashing with fellow actor Alec Baldwin that ended with his exit from Broadway production "Orphans" and breaking his left foot in a recent training session. He didn't lose his sense of humor though as he made jokes while visiting "Late Show with David Letterman".
"I wish I could say it was wrestling tigers, but I was jumping rope," LaBeouf said. As the audience chuckled, David Letterman jokingly commented, "I don't know why they're laughing, because it's not funny." Wearing a gray brace, the actor said he injured his foot while boxing training for a possible project.
During the chat as part of promo tour for his new movie "The Company You Keep", LaBeouf also explained the Baldwin feud. "Now, what did you do to him?" the host asked, to which he replied, "Nothing, nothing. I'm pretty passionate and impulsive...and he's pretty passionate as well. That passion and impulsiveness makes for some fireworks."
"Me and Alec had tension as men. Not as artists, but as men. In a room, that became a hard thing to deal with. When you've got tension as men, that's tough 'til July. It's cool for increments, but to do that for a long period of time would have been tough," he elaborated.
"Can I suggest a couple of scenarios. Alec went to the producers and said, 'I can't take it another day, fire him'," Dave tried to dig more, to which LaBeouf answered, "I think that might have been what happened." When asked if it's due to "creative differences," he responded, "I think that's what you've got to say as a business-savvy answer for what actually happened."
Despite their disagreement on things that he kept vague about, LaBeouf who attended the first preview of the Broadway play praised Baldwin as "a good dude" and "great actor." He also had no hard feelings towards his replacement Ben Foster, saying the actor did good job.
"It was the only ticket I could get, actually," said LaBeouf who sat in front row. When Dave suggested a reconciliation, the "Transformers" star said "that would be a tough one to pull off," but tried anyway. "Here it is, right here," the guest said, "Alec, I think you're awesome man; that's it."
