Confirming his role in the 'Captain America' sequel, the 'Company You Keep' actor/director says he signs up for the superhero film because he 'wanted to do something different.'

AceShowbiz - Robert Redford has confirmed his casting for "Captain America: The Winter Soldier". During a press roundtable for his new film "The Company You Keep", the actor was willing to address previous report that he would star as a senior S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. "Well, the head of S.H.I.E.L.D. The head of S.H.I.E.L.D," he clarified to SPINOFF ONLINE.
On why he joins the Marvel film, Redford explained, "The Captain America thing is just a very simple thing." He went on sharing, "I wanted to do something different. I wanted to do something just to be different. Something bold, different. And that felt like a good thing to do. That was it, nothing more to it than that. Well, it's bold in terms of expectations, I guess."
The follow-up to "Captain America: The First Avenger" has earlier cast Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter, who is an occasional love interest to Steve Rogers. Frank Grillo is tapped to portray supervillain Crossbone, while Chris Evans and Sebastian Stan will return as the star-spangled superhero and Bucky Barnes respectively.
Set to be released April 4, 2014 in the U.S., the action film is directed by the Russo brothers. It will pick up where "The Avengers" leaves off, as Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world.
Recently, possible concept art from "The Winter Soldier" as well as "Guardians of the Galaxy", another movie in Marvel's Phase Two, landed online. The "Winter Soldier" concept images feature a fight between the Cap and a transformed Bucky Barnes, as well as unveil the first look at The Falcon among other things.
A sneak peek of the upcoming Phase Two featurette has also surfaced, featuring producer Kevin Feige and actor Robert Downey Jr. who talk about how Tony Stark will evolve in "The Avengers 2".
