'Glee' Cast and Creators Tweet Support for Cory Monteith After Rehab Announcement
"Glee" members could always count on one another to get each other's back. Cory Monteith's extended family in the popular TV show where he is starring shows their full support for his decision to go to rehab, following his girlfriend/co-star Lea Michele's official statement expressing the similar sentiment.
Creator Ryan Murphy tweeted, "I am so proud of Cory Monteith and love and support him 100%." Co-creator Brad Falchuk also took to Twitter to send his supportive message for the Finn Hudson depicter, "Cory is like a son to me. He knows I love him."
Chris Colfer (Kurt) wrote, "Anyone who helps themselves is a hero in my book," which was re-tweeted by another "Glee" cast Naya Rivera (Santana). Kevin McHale (Artie) joined his friends as saying, "Love u @CoryMonteith, so proud of you :)"
Jenna Ushkowitz (Tina) added, "Sending lots of love and light to @CoryMonteith. We love you." Amber Riley (Mercedes) chimed in, "I support you big bro, love you to life. So proud of you @CoryMonteith get well soon."
Dot Marie Jones (Coach Beiste) tweeted, "@CoryMonteith Sweetest man, so proud of you taking care of you. We are and will always be here for you. I love you always, stay strong...U never know what someone is dealing with in their personal life, don't pass judgment and love and support it's what I believe it what I do."
Harry Shum Jr. (Mike) posted, "Supporting @CoryMonteith for his courageous decision. Get well soon my friend! Proud of you!" Mark Salling (Puck) added, "Huge love for brother Cory. Can't wait to hit the course with ya."
Monteith "has voluntarily admitted himself to a treatment facility for substance addiction," his rep announced on March 31. "He graciously asks for your respect and privacy as he takes the necessary steps towards recovery." Michele quickly sent her support, saying she would stand by her beau in his moment of need.
Just three days before the announcement, Monteith expressed his gratitude on Twitter, "Such a beautiful day! truly seeing the forest for the trees. #gratitude." Due to his rehab stint, he would miss the last two episodes of "Glee" current season as filming would go ahead as scheduled. His absence would be explained on the show as a way to show their sincere support for him.
"Cory is a beloved member of the Glee family and we fully support his decision to seek treatment," 20th Century Fox TV said in a statement. "Everyone at the show wishes him well and looks forward to his return."
