Greg Gutfeld Calls Jim Carrey's Complaint About Fox News 'a Complete Meltdown'
Fox News' hosts have responded to Jim Carrey's statement, through which the actor blasted the channel for constantly criticizing him over his "Cold Dead Hand" video. On Friday, March 29, Greg Gutfeld said on his show "The Five", "Jimmy mocked Mr. Heston but won't respond to me - yet," referring to his invite to Carrey for a debate about the parody video on Fox News.
"He issued a press release, which is basically a complete meltdown," Gutfeld continued. "This is a guy that insulted most of America and danced on the grave of Charlton Heston. Jim Carrey is, in this letter, threatening legal action - something Charlton Heston can't do because Charlton Heston is dead."
"That was the whole point, to stand up for somebody who couldn't talk back to a fool like Jim Carrey... He released this video, then he retreated. He wouldn't respond. He hid like a little baby."
Still in the segment called "Carrey caves to Fox News in response to Cold Dead Hand coverage", another "The Five" host Bob Beckel commented on Carrey's statement, "You talked talked out of your arse." The Fox News analyst added, "Come sue us. Bring your arse and we'll bring what little brains we have and see what happens."
On Friday, "The Five" hosts also commented on "American Pie" actor Jason Biggs who recently tweeted some profane jokes about Pope Benedict. Opening the segement, Gutfeld said, "Our country is great because washed-up comics have the right to suck."
"Based on that, Jason and Carrey are civil-rights pioneers. They're the Jackie Robinsons of sucking... But really, Jimmy and Jason, if you want to create the illusion of edge, at least take a risk. Stop choosing targets approved by you sheep-like peers."
Earlier the same day, Carrey issued a press release in which he called the cable channel "Fux News". "Since I released my 'Cold Dead Hand' video on Funny or Die this week, I have watched Fux News rant, rave, bare its fangs and viciously slander me because of my stand against large magazines and assault rifles," the Steve Gray of "The Incredible Burt Wonderstone" stated.
"I would take them to task legally if I felt they were worth my time or that anyone with a brain in their head could actually fall for such irresponsible buffoonery," he continued, describing the channel as "a last resort for kinda-sorta-almost-journalists whose options have been severely limited by their extreme and intolerant views; a media colostomy bag that has begun to burst at the seams and should be emptied before it becomes a public health issue."
"I sincerely believe that in time, good people will lose patience with the petty and poisonous behavior of these bullies and Fux News will be remembered as nothing more than a giant culture fart that no amount of Garlique could cure. I wish them all the luck that accompanies such malevolence," he concluded.
Fox News has been criticizing Carrey since the comedian released "Cold Dead Hand" video in which he show his support for gun control. In it, he dressed as former NRA president Charlton Heston who later shot his own foot. He sang, "Charlton Heston movies are no longer in demand, and his immortal soul may lay forever in the sand. The angels wouldn't take him up to heaven like he planned, because they couldn't pry the gun from his cold dead hand."
