Lil Wayne 'Pleased' He Didn't Make It Into MTV's 'Hottest MCs' List
Lil Wayne is actually happy to know that he didn't land on the list of MTV's "Hottest MCs in the Game" this year. He gives a completely opposite reaction to that of Kanye West who was disgruntled after finding out that he slid down to No. 7 after being a top 3 in the previous year.
"I didn't even check the top 10 list, but I'm glad I didn't make it neither," the Young Money rhymer told DJ Felli Fel in a radio interview on Power 106. He jokingly added that it's probably best for them to exclude him, "I probably pissed some people off at MTV or something."
Weezy ranked No. 1 on the first-ever list in 2007. After making it into the top 5 last year, he disappeared from the yearly rundown that represents the most shining rappers of the year based on their artistic execution including lyrical ability and flow, commercial success, and cultural impact.
During the interview, the dreadlocked MC also talked about his recent health scares. Contrary to the swirling rumors suggesting it happened because of drugs, he said he's prone to seizures because he's an epileptic. It was worsened due to his "plain stress, no rest, overworking" condition.
"This isn't my first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh seizure. I've had a bunch of seizures, ya'll just never hear about them. But this time it got real bad 'cause I had three of them in a row and on the third one, my heart rate went down to like 30 percent. Basically, I could've died, so that is why it was so serious."
He added, "Certain times I don't even go to the hospital, but this time, it was real bad because it was three in a row, and I've never had three back to back like that."
Of the media falsely reporting he's in critical condition, he had no hard feeling towards them. "That's what they do. I can't be upset at that. I get upset at my kids when they do things that I tell them not to do. I can't be upset at TMZ for doing what they do. They gon' probably come out tomorrow and say something else about somebody else that ain't true. That's what they do. The truth isn't good enough for them, so they gotta twist everything up," he said.
Weezy has just released a new album "I Am Not a Human Being II", battling for the top stop on Billboard Hot 200 against Blake Shelton's "Based on a True Story..." which was recently endorsed by current No. 1 holder Justin Timberlake.
According to music industry experts, Weezy could sell between 190,000 to 210,000 copies in its first week based on one-day estimates and Shelton could debut with estimated 155,000 - 175,000 copies.
