The 72nd Peabody Awards Honors 'Girls', Lorne Michaels and More

'Game Change' and 'Louie' are other scripted programs which are included in this year's winner list, while 'Saturday Night Live' creator Michaels is honored with Individual Peabody.

The winners of this year's Peabody Awards have been announced. Scripted TV series "", "", "" and "" as well as HBO's TV movie "" are among honorees in entertainment field.

The Peabodys also pick Lorne Michaels, the creator and executive producer of "", as the recepient of a rare Individual Peabody, "because he's the patron saint of satirical television comedy."

Long-running British series "", which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, is awarded an Institutional Peabody "for evolving with technology and the times like nothing else in the known television universe." Michael Apted's "Up" series, which is notable for its subjects' humanity, also receives an Institutional Peabody.

Administered by the University of Georgia's journalism school, the Peabodys honor "achievement and meritorious service" excellence in electronic media, including TV, radio, the Internet. Most of the awards, aside from the Institutional Awards, are given to honor work done in 2012. The full winner list can be seen on the Peabodys official website.

The ceremony for the 72nd Annual Peabody Awards will be held May 20 in New York, with CBS News' Scott Pelley serving as the host.
