Heartless thieves ransacked the cancer-stricken star's house, smashing a box full of memorabilia of her stillborn daughter and taking a watch she gave to her husband on their wedding day.

AceShowbiz - Bernie Nolan's home in Surrey has been ransacked by thieves. Bernie and family got the news just a few days after The Nolans' vocalist told her daughter Erin that she was losing her battle with cancer. On Sunday, March 24, Bernie's husband, Steve Doneathy, revealed how the thieves got into the house when there were no one at home.

A friend who usually checks the house when the family is away called Steve, saying, "Steve, you've been broken into." Steve revealed that the thugs took a TV, a bottle of expensive champagne, a watch and some jewelry. "All the drawers were open. There were clothes all over the place. They'd even gone through Erin's room and her little jewelery box. But as far as we could see they'd only taken the TV from the front room and a bottle of expensive champagne we'd bought it in case we ever got good news," he said.

In addition, the thieves broke a box containing memorabilia of the couple's stillborn daughter, Kate. "We have a little box in the front room that has a padlock on it. It's where we keep photographs of our first daughter Kate. It's full of pictures and sympathy cards from people and it's got her little hospital bracelet with her name on it. They'd smashed the padlock off that and tipped it all over the floor, just in case it was full of jewelery," Steve said.

"They also stole a watch Bernie gave me on our wedding day, engraved on the back, 'To Steve, all the way, Bernie' with the date of our wedding on. That's the thing that upsets me, especially at the moment. I'd have kept it forever," he added.

Bernie was a cancer survivor, but her cancer returned in 2012. Last month, her doctors said that it had spread to her brain, liver, lungs and bones. Bernie was moved into a hospice and the family prepared for the worst. The doctors stopped giving chemotherapy because the cancer did not respond to the medication. Her family was planning to bring her home when the break-in happened.
