A source reveals the cause of the 'Lollipop' rapper's hospitalization in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, saying that he 'drank too much sizzurp to get a better high.'

AceShowbiz - Sizzurp is apparently the culprit behind Lil Wayne's hospital drama. "TMZ was so off base. Wayne is fine, " an insider tells Us Weekly. "He drank too much sizzurp to get a better high. He needs rehab but he's not close to death or anything. He's fine and just coming down off the high."

Sizzurp is a term for highly addictive, narcotic concoction of prescription-strength cough syrup, sugary sodas and hard candies, typically sipped out of Styrofoam cups. Cheap and easy to make, this recreational drug is famous among teenagers and hip-hop communities. Abuse of sizzurp, especially when mixed with alcohol, can lead one to overdose.

Weezy once candidly declared his love for sizzurp in his 2008 song "Me and My Drank". He rapped, "Up in the studio me and my drank/ Please let me be and let me do my thang/ Thinkin about a certain somebody, that perfect somebody sexy purple body."

Meanwhile, friends of Lil Wayne keep showing their support for the 30-year-old rapper. In his surprise appearance during Afghan Whigs' concert at SXSW on March 16, R&B singer Usher asked for the crowd's support for Weezy. "One of my fellow artists, good friend, Lil Wayne is going through a real hard time right now, y'all. And I just want to send a lot of positive attitude about his state. And a lot of positive energy out there right now," he said. "Can you guys make some noise for Lil Wayne one time? You know it's ultimately about positive energy. You believe in that? So one time make some noise."

Fellow rappers paid a visit to Weezy to show their support. Nicki Minaj, one of his closest friends in the business, "broke down" when she saw him. "She cried because she didn't want to see him in the hospital with s*** in his arms and doctors around," a source said. "But all in all, she had a good visit with him and Wayne seems cool." Hip-hop star Drake and basketball ace Chris Paul were also seen visiting Weezy in the hospital to give him support.

Lil Wayne has been progressively doing well since he was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Tuesday, March 12,after having multiple seizures as soon as he finished shooting a music video. Mack Maine, the president of Young Money label, tweeted on Saturday, March 16, saying "Wayne is alive and well! We watching the Syracuse game..." Fellow rapper Birdman also tweeted later, "My son is in good spirit..feelin much betta...be home soon.YMCMB." Last but not least, Weezy himself updated fans about his condition on Twitter, "I'm good everybody. Thx for the prayers and love."
