AceShowbiz - "Skyfall" dominates nomination list at this year's Empire Awards. The latest James Bond movie grabs a total of six nods at the post-Oscar awards including Best Thriller, Best British Film, Best Director and Best Film. Lead male Daniel Craig is nominated for Best Actor and co-star Judi Dench is up for Best Actress.
The second-biggest nominees are "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" and "The Avengers". Both movies are facing off each other in Best Director, Best Film, Best Science-Fiction/Fantasy and Best Art of 3D. Martin Freeman and Robert Downey Jr., main actors of respective films, are additionally competing for Best Actor.
Another multiple nominee is "Django Unchained". The slavery movie is up for Best Film, Best director for Quentin Tarantino, and Best Actor for Christoph Waltz. "Zero Dark Thirty (2012)" joins the competition to win Best Thriller and places Jessica Chastain in the running of becoming Best Actress.
Meanwhile, awards darlings such as "Argo", "Lincoln" and "Silver Linings Playbook" get one nom each. The Ben Affleck-helmed movie is vying for Best Thriller, the movie about the 16th President of the United States leads main actor Daniel Day-Lewis to score a Best Actor nod, and the Jennifer Lawrence-starring flick is listed as a Best Comedy nominee.
Quvenzhane Wallis' brilliant performance in "Beasts of the Southern Wild" gives her a Best Female Newcomer nomination. The 9-year-old actress is facing off Samantha Barks ("Les Miserables"), Alice Lowe ("Sightseers"), Alicia Vikander ("Anna Karenina"), and Holliday Grainger ("Great Expectations").
