Report: James McAvoy Eyed to Star in 'The Crow' Remake

The 'X-Men: First Class' actor is reportedly circling the leading role of Eric Draven in Relativity Media's remake of 'The Crow'.

is rumored to be in talks to join Relativity Media's remake of "". According to Bloody-Disgusting, McAvoy would star as Eric Draven, a man brought back from the dead to avenge his own murder as well as the murder of his fiancee.

The remake of "The Crow" has been in development for years, with some big names being approached to star in it. Back in 2010, was reportedly offered the Eric Draven role before he revealed he was not attached.

Later in 2011, was also in talks before he dropped out. was the last name before McAvoy that was heard as a potential candidate to fill in the role, but nothing came out of it.

The original 1994 movie "The Crow" featured as iconic character Eric Draven. The film was directed by Alex Proyas and was known for its breakthrough visual style as well as its unique production design and cinematography.

The remake film will be based on James O'Barr's 1989 comic and has tapped F. Javier Gutierrez to direct it and Jesse Wigutow to write the screenplay. It is being produced by Edward R. Pressman, Jeff Most and Ryan Kavanaugh, while Tucker Tooley, Harvey and Bob Weinstein and Dan Farah are serving as executive producers.
