Steven Tyler and Joe Perry to Be Inducted to Songwriters Hall of Fame

The two members of rock band Aerosmith join Tony Hatch, Tina Turner and more in Songwriters Hall of Fame inductees class of 2013.

The songwriting tandem of and Joe Perry, frontman and guitarist respectively of legendary rock band , headline this year's inductees into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. They lead other inductees such as British songwriter Tony Hatch, rock group members Mick Jones and Lou Gramm, resident songwriter Holly Knight and hit creator J.D. Souther.

Since they banded together in 1970 when they formed Aerosmith, Tyler and Perry have penned such rock classics as "Dream On", "Walk This Way" and "Love in an Elevator", winning four Grammy Awards along the way. The two have long been inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame back in 2001.

"Each of our 2013 inductees has been responsible for captivating the world with their creativity for decades, serving up a rich variety of songs for our global soundtrack," organization chairman Jimmy Webb said in a press release. This year's inductees were the highest vote getters chosen by a panel of judges from a list of 24 nominees released last year.

Hatch is credited for writing Petula Clark's "Downtown" and "Call Me", while Jones and Gramm are best known for their band's 1984 runaway hit "I Want to Know What Love Is". Knight wrote Turner's "Better Be Good to Me" and "The Best" as well as Pat Benatar's "Love Is a Battlefield". Meanwhile, Souther penned numerous hits for the Eagles, one of which is the 1979 hit song "Heartache Tonight".
