Saturn Awards 2013: 'Fringe' and 'Dexter' Lead TV Nominations

The FOX sci-fi series gets 6 noms, the Showtime drama scores 5 nods, while the likes of 'Breaking Bad', 'Falling Skies, 'Revolution' and 'The Walking Dead' get four each.

AceShowbiz - In its last season, "Fringe" gets so much love from the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films. The recently-canceled series tops other shows for a series with the most nominations at the upcoming 39th Saturn Awards.

The J.J. Abrams-created sci-fi series nabs 6 noms, including Best Network Television Series. In the category, the show is put up against relatively newcomers "Elementary", "The Following", "Once Upon a Time" and "Revolution", as well as veteran show "Supernatural".

The other five nods are acting honors for "Fringe" stars. Joshua Jackson and Anna Torv are up for Best Actor and Best Actress title respectively. John Noble is nominated for Best Supporting Actor, while Blair Brown and Lance Reddick join other contenders for Best Guest Starring Role kudo.

Showtime's popular show "Dexter" trails close behind "Fringe" with 5 nominations. It will fight off "American Horror Story: Asylum", "Leverage", "The Killing", "True Blood" and "The Walking Dead" for Best Syndicated Cable Television Series.

Lead actor Michael C. Hall is competing againts Jackson, Kevin Bacon ("The Following"), Billy Burke ("Revolution"), Bryan Cranston ("Breaking Bad"), Timothy Hutton ("Leverage") and Andrew Lincoln ("The Walking Dead") for the Best Actor prize.

Hall's on-screen sister Jennifer Carpenter joins Best Supporting Actress nominees, which also include Sarah Carter ("Falling Skies"), Anna Gunn ("Breaking Bad"), Laurie Holden ("The Walking Dead"), Jessica Lange ("American Horror Story: Asylum") and Beth Riesgraf ("Leverage").

Also getting multiple nominations are "Breaking Bad", "Falling Skies", "Leverage", "Revolution" and "The Walking Dead" with four apiece.

The annual Saturn Awards present trophies in 20 film categories, 9 TV categories and 4 in-home entertainment categories. The winners will be revealed in a ceremony, which date and location will be announced in the coming weeks.
