The 'Star Trek Into Darkness' helmer announces the good news when attending D.I.C.E. Summit with Valve head Gabe Newell.

J.J. Abrams is not slowing down a bit. As if nabbing the highly-coveted directing gig in "Star Wars Episode 7" is not enough, the filmmaker already aims to develop some more movie projects based on famous video games. During the D.I.C.E. Summit on Wednesday, February 6, Abrams announced that his banner Bad Robot would team up with gamemaker Valve to bring "" and "Portal" games to the silver screen.

"There's an idea we have for a game that we'd like to work with Valve on," Abrams told the audience at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Valve head Gabe Newell added, as quoted by Wired, "We're going to figure out if we can make a Portal movie or Half-Life movie together."

Following the summit, Abrams confirmed the plan once again to Polygon. He said, "It's as real as anything in Hollywood ever gets. Which is that we are really talking to Valve, we are going to be bringing on a writer, we have a lot of very interesting ideas."

Both "Portal" and "Half-Line" are among the most popular game franchises by Valve in addition to "Counter-Strike". Abrams and Newell delivered the surprising news in their joint keynote speech called "Storytelling Across Platforms: Who Benefits Most, the Audience or the Player?" So far, there have been no other details of the planned game-adapted projects.

D.I.C.E. stands for Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain. It will host its annual awards show honoring the best in video games on February 7. Co-produced by Variety, the event will honor Valve as the 2013 AIAS Hall of Fame inductee.
