Elizabeth Olsen and Bryan Cranston Approached to Star in 'Godzilla'

Aaron Johnson is reportedly also in talks to join the upcoming monster movie to be directed by Gareth Edwards.

Though the script has yet to be done, Gareth Edwards' "" remake has already begun its search for actors to star in it. Per Variety, Legendary Pictures is already entering talks to add and to the project's cast ensemble.

Words are, is also in negotiations to join the highly-anticipated monster movie. Still, insiders note that no deals have been sealed with the three actors as the studio is waiting for the screenplay to be polished.

It is still unclear what characters Olsen, Cranston and Johnson are poised to tackle as the major logline of the film is still kept under very tight wraps. The production is expected to kick off in March for a May 16, 2014 release date.

"Godzilla" has Drew Pearce, Frank Darabont and Max Borenstein serving as the scribes. The project has been generating positive early buzz from fans since it was teased at last year's San Diego Comic-Con.

"We're going to take it seriously. If this really happened, what would it be like? It's very grounded [and] realistic," director Edwards once said of his vision on the potential tentpole project.

Olsen, known for her roles in a number of well-reviewed indie movies, has recently appeared in Sundance hits "" and "". Her next project will be "" remake to be directed by Spike Lee.

Cranston, meanwhile, was last seen in the big screen in 's Oscar-nominated "". As for Johnson, he will reprise his titular role in upcoming "Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall" to come out in theaters Stateside on June 28.
