NAACP Image Awards 2013 TV Winners: 'Scandal' Is Outstanding Drama Series

Kerry Washington, who takes the lead role on the Shonda Rhimes-created series, is chosen as Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series.

As the American National Association for the Advancement of Colored People held its annual awards show, "" snatched a coveted award in the TV field. The ABC hit series was named Outstanding Drama Series, beating other contenders which included "", "", "" and "".

The Shonda Rhimes-created show also led to win Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series prize. The Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series, meanwhile, went to of "".

In comedy series field, "" was chosen as the outstanding one. of "" and Cassi Davis of "" were tied for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series award.

The -created show bagged two other trophies through Cassi Davis' win as Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series and ' Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series title.

Also taking home multiple prizes was "". The soap opera had its stars Kristoff St. John and being chosen as Outstanding Actor and Actress in a Daytime Drama Series respectively.

As for "" which earned the most nominations with seven, the TV movie managed to claim two prizes. The Lifetime show was named Outstanding Television Movie, Mini-Series or Dramatic Special, while its star was honored with Actress in a Television Movie, Mini-Series or Dramatic Special.

Other winners included (Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series), (Supporting Actor in a Drama Series), (Actor in a Television Movie, Mini-Series or Dramatic Special), and "" (Talk Series).

The 44th Annual NAACP Image Awards was held on Friday, February 1 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, with as the host. The event celebrated the accomplishments of people of color in the fields of television, music, literature and film and also honors individuals or groups who promote social justice through creative endeavors.
