Joseph Gordon-Levitt Discusses Why He Joins 'Sin City 2' at Sundance

The 'Looper' actor, who debuts his directorial debut 'Don Jon's Addiction' at the Utah film festival, also weighs in on rumors that he might be the next Batman after Christian Bale.

Recently added to the cast ensemble of "", explained what attracted him to join the upcoming film. When attending the 2013 Sundance Film Festival to promote his directorial debut "Don Jon's Addiction", the "" star admitted that he'd star in the "" sequel simply because it's a Robert Rodriguez movie.

"For me, it's first and foremost about a filmmaker who inspires me," he told Deadline. "In the last year I have been extremely fortunate. I got to work with Rian Johnson and then Chris Nolan and then Steven Spielberg. The job I just took, Sin City 2, I did it because I just love Robert Rodriguez's movies."

He went, "And then after filmmakers, it's the script. Sin City 2 is just a fun part to play. I have eclectic taste in movies I like to watch. This year, was one of my favorite movies, everyone is so good and I'm so happy for Leo [DiCaprio] because he's a friend of mine; I know he's hilarious and he showed that side of himself. I loved , and . Any of those filmmakers, Ang Lee, Quentin Tarantino or Benh Zeitlin, I'd love to be in one of their movies."

A continuation of Frank Miller's "Sin City" graphic novels, "Dame to Kill For" focuses on earlier story of 's Dwight McCarthy, whose life is turned upside down when Ava, a woman from his past, returns and says she loves him and causes all sorts of problems for him. The movie is slated for an October 4, 2013 release Stateside.

Apart from dishing on his involvement in "Sin City 2", Gordon-Levitt also weighed in on rumors suggesting that he might be the next Batman depicter after . Playing coy on the possibility, the Los Angeles native stated, "It's not up to me. It comes down to the same two criteria I just mentioned."

Gordon-Levitt's directorial debut, 'Don Jon's Addiction', received relatively positive reviews after it was screened at Sundance over the weekend. The dramedy also stars , and .
