The Soundgarden frontman will reunite onstage with his former band mates to perform for President Barack Obama's inauguration.

AceShowbiz - Rock musician Chris Cornell will perform onstage with his former Soundgarden band mates to lend their support to re-elected U.S. President Barack Obama's inauguration on January 21. Cornell and Soundgarden are the latest musical acts added to the line-up of entertainers that will be joining next week's festivities in Washington D.C.

Cornell is set to join other musical performers Alicia Keys, Jamie Foxx, Marc Anthony, Jennifer Hudson and Brad Paisley at the Commander-in-Chief's Ball in honor of the U.S. Armed Forces. He will then reunite with Soundgarden to play at the President's inaugural ball alongside other top acts Usher, Katy Perry, Stevie Wonder, and Fun..

Last week, Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Clarkson and James Taylor were personally handpicked by President Obama to sing at his inauguration ceremony. A couple of days after the announcement, more A-listers signed up for the event, including the cast of "Glee", Smokey Robinson, John Legend, and Nick Cannon.

Aside from the official inaugural ball, other key activities and unofficial balls in the inaugural weekend in Washington will feature other big names. Eva Longoria, Chelsea Clinton, Ben Folds, Star Jones, Angela Bassett, and Yolanda Adams will all participate in the "Service Summit" at the National Mall.

"Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" singer and 80's icon Cyndi Lauper is also actively promoting a private concert for U.S. House of Representatives Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Democratic members of Congress in a fundraising effort for the Democratic Congressional Committee's bid to recapture the House of Representatives in 2014.
