Cyndi Lauper, Ben Folds and More Join Obama Inauguration

Star Jones, Angela Bassett and Yolanda Adams are also added to the line-up of stars who will be lending their support to the president's upcoming inauguration.

As Barack Obama's January 21 inauguration draws near, more stars are added to the line-up of entertainers that will be lending their support to next week's festivities in Washington D.C. is promoting one of the unofficial balls, while alternative rock band frontman and gospel singer lead other celebrities in one of the key activities in the inaugural weekend.

Lauper joins the Obama inauguration bandwagon as she sends out email invitations to a sweepstakes with its prize, a trip to the inauguration with two tickets to an unofficial inaugural ball and a private concert for U.S. House of Representatives Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Democratic members of Congress. The "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" singer is also asking for contributions to the Democratic Congressional Committee's fundraising efforts to recapture the House of Representatives in 2014.

, Chelsea Clinton, Ben Folds, Star Jones, , and Yolanda Adams, meanwhile, will be featured in the "Service Summit" at the National Mall. "Service Summit" is a good works fair that gives more than 100 community service organizations a chance to exhibit their projects and draft volunteers for the "National Day of Service" that the first family supports as a way of honoring the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Last week, , and were handpicked by Obama to sing at his inauguration ceremony on January 21. A couple of days after the announcement, more A-listers signed up for the event, such as , , , indie rock band , the cast of "", & , , , and .
