'Life of Pi' and 'Zero Dark Thirty' are the other critically-acclaimed movies vying for the coveted Best Film award at the British film awards event to take place on February 10.

AceShowbiz - Shortly before the AMPAS reveals its 2013 Oscar nominees, the 2013 BAFTA Film Awards announces its nominations which are dominated by acclaimed U.S. movies. Those vying for the coveted Best Film award are "Argo", "Les Miserables", "Life of Pi", "Lincoln" and "Zero Dark Thirty (2012)".

Meanwhile, James Bond movie "Skyfall", which has been dubbed the best 007 flick so far, is up for the Outstanding British Film prize. The film will compete with "Anna Karenina", "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel", "Seven Psychopaths" and "Les Miserables".

The nomination announcement took place on Wednesday morning, January 9 in London with Alice Eve and Jeremy Irvine on hand to read to nominees. Winners of the 65th EE BAFTA Film Awards will be revealed during a ceremony at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden on February 10. The show will be hosted by Stephen Fry.

The voting process for this year's BAFTAs was altered in order to move the nominations ahead by a week with rounds reduced from three to two. The new procedure eliminated the longlist that was traditionally announced around this time with the final nominees announced later in January. The shifts gave the members more time to vote.
