The indie rock band contribute a new track to the soundtrack of the hit HBO comedy series.

debut a new track "Sight of the Sun" off the new album "Girls - Volume 1: Music", the soundtrack of the hit TV series "" starring . "Sight of the Sun" is featured in the 14-track standard edition and the 18-track deluxe edition of the album which is set to be released January 8, just a few days before the hit HBO series returns to TV screens on Sunday, January 13 with the second season.

Written by the band's frontman , "Sight of the Sun" was intended for Fun.'s sophomore studio set "". It didn't make the group's final tracklist and remained unreleased, but not until Dunham contacted the group. Some brush up was done by Ruess to the song's lyrics, "For once there is nothing up my sleeve/ just some scars from a life that used to trouble me. I used to run at first sight of the sun/ now I lay here waiting for you to wake up, I lay here waiting for you to wake up."

After rewriting the chorus, the band's founding member said he liked it even better than the original version. "We recorded most of this in Italy on a day off from tour and I just remember us eating an Italian feast at the studio and barely being able to communicate with the engineers, which was kind of cool because it eliminated all small talk and put the focus into the song," said Ruess.

"Girls" is a comedy-drama series about a group of twenty-somethings living in New York City. The show, which first aired on HBO last April 2012, is created by its lead actress, the 26-year-old filmmaker Lena Dunham, on whose life the premise and major aspects of the main character were based.
